 | Kelisha Osborne was born January 25th in Los Angeles, California. She is the youngest of six children of a successful businessman and an accountant mother.
A self-taught artist, she exhibited from an early age a discerning interest for drawing and began painting with oils while in grade school. As an adult in Denver, Colorado, she continued her creative outlet working toward a career in the architectural field. However, a chance encounter with an agent, Kelisha took a diversion into modeling signing as a runway model. Never abandoning her art she traveled with sketchbooks, charcoals and pastels. Despite the incentives that modeling provided, craving only to get back to her roots and re-evaluating that she wanted more substance in her life, Kelisha took a temporary sabbatical from the fashion industry.
Having since worked in a variety of artistic settings, as a result, she has continued her creative pursuit of painting and sketching thereupon parlaying her talent into additional opportunities. She began designing videos also, editorial layouts and illustrations for clients, as well as designing for magazines. With her strong background in advertising it wasn't long before she was offered a position as Senior Account Executive with a public relations firm. Working primarily in the advertising industry, Kelisha had limited time for painting. She later accepted a position with a popular cable news and sports television station as an Advertising Consultant allowing more time for painting and exhibitions. Kelisha continues her career in the advertising industry and maintains an exclusive stable of clients.
Kelisha is an instinctual painter with a diverse range of style, and has chosen abstraction as her main tenor for its infinity of perceptions. She hand builds and stretches her own canvases and while working in traditional enamels, acrylics and watercolors, she also incorporates sand, papers, wood, plaster and many non-traditional materials into her pieces. Working in 'skins' or multiple layers of brush strokes, pourages or unconventional techniques of application, her finished pieces vary from highly complex to minimalist and pure with colors conveying emotion all of which are made with the sincerest conviction.
Participating in numerous exhibitions in addition to several celebrity auction galas, Kelisha has also been selected recipient of numerous nominations and awards for her works, including the coveted Canson Award presented by David Lawrence, Dean of Humanities, Film and Cinematographer on behalf of the Fine Arts Institute of The San Bernardino Museum also, an Award of Merit presented by Nancy Di Benedetto, Adjunct Professor of Art, Marymount Manhattan College, New York art critic, historian and noted lecturer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art on behalf of The Manhattan Arts, New York, New York.
When she is not in studio, traveling or exhibiting, Kelisha spends her time at her home just outside of Park City, Utah with her family and Newfoundland dog, Captain Morgan's Seafaring Rum Runner, |
|
| [affectionately] known as Morgan. |
She is a member of the Berkeley Arts Center, Berkeley California, as well as American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT), and actively supports both Americans for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC. Her pieces are held by numerous private collectors and in corporate collections internationally.

"The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him, he is always doing both". |

~Artists Statement |
"...nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect." |
I feel the pieces I create subtlety reflect such collective aesthetics, further accentuating the beauty of the imperfect, impermanent and the incomplete.
Eastern cultures confer a philosophy of integrating art and beauty into aesthetic creations portrayed as Wabi-Sabi. While not a precise definition, Wabi translates into -objects that may be simple and natural fundamentals, while Sabi illustrates -elements of beauty stemming or developing from age.
Combined, Wabi-Sabi may be described as perhaps an artistic receptiveness, which indiscriminately includes the connected ideas encompassing the imperfect, impermanent and incomplete.
